It’s soon to be November again, and that can only mean one thing : Bonfire Night at The Cedars care home in Altrincham, which provides high quality residential care and dementia care for the elderly. As usual our ‘ hot pot supper ’ will be on offer to residents and families, along with seasonal treats and display of fireworks by The Bowdon Cricket Club, watched by our residents from the comfort of their arm chairs.

September saw a group of residents and staff from The Cedars care home in Trafford enjoy have a brilliant day out at the National Lottery-funded Hope View Sensory Farm, Astley. Research has shown that those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s benefit from interacting with animals, in this case Alpacas, Llamas, Donkeys, Miniature Shetlands, goats and an array of birds, all wandering free. The trip was representative of the holistic care provided at The Cedars, a quality balance of indoor outdoor activities and social trips.

What’s on at The Cedars Care Home in July ?

Amongst many other regular activities, musical events are sure to strike the right note at The Cedars Care Home in Altrincham, which provides high quality care for the elderly, including dementia care.
The first is the regular weekly event on Tuesdays called “Bringing us Sunshine ”, a play on words which doffs its cap to Morecambe and Wise. This brings together a sing-song of popular tunes throught the decades and goes down so well with our family of residents. Meanwhile the Girls from Altrincham Grammer School Choir are expected to delight our clients who always enjoy the youngsters’ visits to the care home.

The Cedars care home in Bowdon had its annual garden party on the 24th June against a background of blazing sunshine, cool drinks, live music and a spectacular barbeque. The staff, as usual, made the event a great success and drew may compliments from visting family members as well as residents and friends of The Cedars. We couldn’t have had a more glorious afternoon. What a great location we have and we are delighted that the pleasure of the surroundings in Bowdon and the reputation which The Cedars has developed over the last 32 years for care and compassion has been shared by so many over time.

We have always provided respite care at the Cedars Care Home in Altrincham and this service continues to provide families the opportunity to take a well-earned break from the commitment they make in caring for their elderly relatives in their home environment. Both residents and their families are able to make full use of the lovely landscaped garden especially when the weather is being kind to us. The Cedars benefits of course from its southerly aspect in the Bowdon conservation area of the borough of Trafford in a building which seamlessly marries the very best of what Victorian architecture with 21st century expectations.

THE CEDARS CARE HOME

The Cedars care home is situated in the leafy suburban village of Bowdon in south Manchester. The home itself is a Victorian property built in the 1870′s and sympathetically converted by Caring UK throughout the 1980′s. The care home caters for 34 residents in mainly single room, en-suited accommodation and has a range of spacious communal facilities with large outdoor spaces and landscape designed gardens.

PEN-Y-GARTH CARE HOME

Pen-Y-Garth care home is situated in the rural village of Brymbo, just four miles from the North Wales town of Wrexham. A Georgian property set in 2 acres of landscaped grounds and with stunning panoramic views of the countryside, the home was originally converted to its role as a care home in 1985 and extended five years later with the addition of a purpose built EMI wing. Pen-Y-Garth now provides exceptional 24-hour residential and EMI residential care for up to 44 residents.
