During an unannounced visit on 17th September, 2014, the inspector evaluated and approved the performance of the care home, which provides residential care for the elderly, including dementia care, against 5 key standards, namely :

- Treating people with respect and involving them in their care
- Providing care, treatment and support that meets people’s needs
- Caring for people safely and protecting them from harm
- Staffing
- Quality and suitability of management

Residents and visitors who were spoken to on the day of the inspection were quick to sing the praises of the high quality care provided at The Cedars with comments such as :

“I am very happy here. The staff are always there for you if you need them.”
” We looked at a few care homes but once we came here we knew this was the right one.” and ” The staff seem to understand everyone`s needs here. I come here regularly and see the care provided. You could not ask for more. “[/quote]
Meanwhile the CQC inspector himself noted that
“ There was a calm and relaxed atmosphere and we saw staff who interacted and supported people in a patient, unhurried manner ” and “ Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people’s safety and welfare. ”
